Intern with Us at Dreams for Schools

Dreams for Schools is pleased to offer a 12-week Volunteer Internship program for currently enrolled high school students. Students who participate in the program will gain educational experience, and develop personal and professional skills in the field of STEAM Education. This is an unpaid internship position where you will have the chance to support and work with DFS STEAM Instructors and help teach students in K-12 schools in Orange County, CA. 

The internship program runs in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer seasons. This internship will take place in-person/onsite at a local school/program site.

Internship Schedule:

  • Mon – Thurs – 1x/week or 2x/week depending on your availability
  • Classes are usually in range of 3 pm – 6 pm
  • Locations available in Garden Grove, Placentia, Santa Ana, and Yorba Linda
  • We’ll match you to a site based on your availability and location!

High School Interns will…

  1. Attend Volunteer Internship Trainings
  2. Gain valuable skills in leadership, public speaking, communication, interpersonal relations, collaboration, time management, critical thinking, creativity and growth mindset
  3. Learn essential job readiness skills and workplace etiquette
  4. Develop knowledge of K-12 STEAM education classes 
  5. Provide classroom support to DFS Instructors 
  6. Learn about careers & opportunities in the STEAM fields 
  7. Give back to the community by working with local students who might not have access to STEAM education
  8. Gain experience to spice up their resumes!

Eligibility:

  1. Attend an accredited high school
  2. Must be at least 16 years of age and a current Junior or Senior in high school
  3. Have permission from their high school at which they are currently enrolled to participate in internship program
  4. Form of Identification (Driver’s License, School I.D., etc.)
  5. Have reliable transportation to-and-from the assigned school site
  6. Willing to submit to a Background Check (dependent on partner school)
  7. Able to commit to the entirety of the internship program
  8. Be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and able to provide proof of vaccination
  9. Be in good academic standing (2.5 GPA or higher)
  10. Submit completed online application with attachments by the filing deadline
