Dreams for Schools (DFS), a nonprofit providing STEAM education programs for underserved youth, is thrilled to announce the winners of the STEAM Scholarship Awards presented by Neudesic for Summer 2024.
The scholarship program, made possible by Neudesic’s generous support, provides financial assistance and professional development opportunities for DFS Instructors pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) fields.
“We are so pleased to award the STEAM Scholarships to two DFS Instructors who are very deserving of this scholarship, and we are excited to see how it can serve as a catalyst for both of them. Both Silvia & James have taught different programs with us with a variety of partners through out the school year and summer sessions,” said Nithin Jilla, Executive Director of Dreams for Schools. Congratulations to both of them on being selected as our Summer scholars.
Silvia Tran – Computer Science at California State University, Long Beach
Silvia is a 3rd year studying Computer Science. After she graduates, Silvia would like to pursue a career in Software Development or Product Management. In her free time, she volunteers and works at her church, mentoring kids of all ages as a youth leader. Silvia is an avid music listener and cannot go a day without it. She loves spending time with her friends, hiking, and visiting new places.
James Vo – Computer Science at California State University, Fullerton
James is a 4th-year student at Cal State Fullerton, and this year he is focusing hard on finishing his academic career on a strong note. As he works toward earning his degree, he’s actively building a portfolio of projects that showcase his skills and creativity, aiming to secure an internship in the near future. Outside of academics, James loves staying active through sports, camping, and practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which helps him maintain a balanced and adventurous lifestyle.
