STEAM Scholarships Awarded to Two UC Irvine Students by Dreams for Schools and Neudesic

Dreams for Schools (DFS) is excited to announce the launch of the Dreams for Schools STEAM Scholarship Award presented by Neudesic. The STEAM Scholarship Award program, made possible with the support of our corporate partner,Neudesic, will be available to STEAM undergraduates working as DFS Instructors while they pursue their career goals in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, or Math (STEAM). Applications are received on a quarterly basis and 1-2 scholarships will be awarded once a quarter.

Dreams for Schools (DFS), a nonprofit providing STEAM education programs for underserved youth, is thrilled to announce the winners of the STEAM Scholarship Awards presented by Neudesic for Winter 2024.

The scholarship program, made possible by Neudesic’s generous support, provides financial assistance and professional development opportunities for DFS Instructors pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) fields.

“We are so pleased to award the STEAM Scholarships to two incredible DFS Instructors,” said Nithin Jilla, Executive Director of Dreams for Schools. “Both instructors are very deserving of this scholarship and we are excited to see how it can serve as a catalyst for both of them – Nathan has been teaching with us for quite a bit, since his undergraduate journey and now pursuing his Graduate studies and Gayathri joined us this past year as a new instructor. Congratulations to both of them on being selected as our Winter scholars.”

Gayathri Yedavilli – Business Information Management & Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine

Gayathri is a second-year student at UC Irvine, double-majoring in Business Information Management and Computer Science, positioned in the intersection where business meets technology. Outside of academic pursuits, Gayathri enjoys hiking, playing tennis, or exploring new culinary delights—if anyone has food recommendations, Gayathri is keen to hear them.

With a strong passion for leveraging technology for the betterment of society, Gayathri actively participates in various organizations focused on designing and developing technological solutions for nonprofits in Orange County. Looking ahead, Gayathri aspires to pursue a career in IT project management, where she can utilize her skills to facilitate exciting technological projects.

Nathan Nguyen – Masters in Human-Computer Interaction & Design at the University of California, Irvine 

Nathan completed his undergraduate degree in computer science with a minor in mathematics at Chapman University. During his tenure at Chapman, Nathan served as the president of the Research and Development club, linking students with faculty who were conducting research in the fields of STEM and engineering. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction and Design at UC Irvine.

Nathan aspires to join the tech industry as a UI/UX designer or front-end software developer, with the ultimate ambition of making a global impact through his work and designs, striving to make the world’s technology more accessible to everyone. Outside of his professional interests, Nathan enjoys crocheting, studying typography and graphic design, and reading graphic novels.
