Dreams for Schools (DFS), a nonprofit providing STEAM education programs for underserved youth, is thrilled to announce the winners of the STEAM Scholarship Awards presented by Neudesic for Fall 2023.
The scholarship program, made possible by Neudesic’s generous support, provides financial assistance and professional development opportunities for DFS Instructors pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) fields.
“We are so pleased to award the STEAM Scholarships to two incredibly deserving DFS Instructors,” said Nithin Jilla, Executive Director of Dreams for Schools. “Meghana and Onyinyechi became valuable additions to our instructor team in 2023 and bring a wealth of knowledge to our students. We believe this scholarship will serve as a catalyst, propelling them further along their journey and making significant contributions in STEAM.”
Meghana Lammata – Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas
Meghana is from Dallas, Texas and serves as one of our virtual instructors. She is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas. Meghana aspires to become a software engineer with a vision to instigate positive change within her local communities and small businesses. She resonates with Dreams for School’s mission of having computer science education accessible to all. With technology becoming more immersive and an integral part of our world, she want to help create the opportunity to help prioritize communication and convenience to create stronger bonds within a community.
Meghana has honed her technical skills through active participation in various organizations, including the Society of Women Engineers, Association of Computing Machinery, and Women Mentoring Women in Engineering. Beyond her technological pursuits, she enjoys the simple pleasures of reading a good book, baking, and indulging in captivating TV shows.
Onyinyechi Ndu – Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine
Onyinyechi is a Texan native currently embarking on her freshman year at the University of California in Irvine. Onyinyechi is passionately pursuing a major in Biomedical Engineering and aspires to double major in Molecular Biology Biochemistry. Her ultimate dream is to make a global impact by contributing to both the medical and engineering fields, working towards the betterment of people’s lives worldwide.
When not immersed in her academic pursuits, Onyinyechi finds joy in playing the violin, delving into the world of books, cultivating new knowledge, and nurturing plants. Committed to a well-rounded college experience, she actively engages in extracurricular activities such as FIRST Robotics Competitions, HOSA, and the Japanese Club.
She joined Dreams for Schools in Fall 2023.
