We are excited to announce the scholarship recipients of the DFS STEAM Scholarship Award program presented by Neudesic for Winter 2023: Wafa Afridi & Arkin Verma! Learn more about each of our recipients:
Wafa Afridi – 3rd Year Infomatics Major at UC Irvine
Wafa is a third year Informatics student at UC Irvine. She has been exploring specific areas of interest within software engineering, such as web development and information retrieval. She is eager to continue expanding her skills and work towards a career in the software industry. Outside of my academic pursuits, she enjoys playing badminton, exploring new cuisines and restaurants, and working on personal projects, such as building her personal portfolio website.
She enjoyed her time as a DFS instructor, especially the last couple weeks of class during when students were working on creating their own games. During this time, she got to know more about her students as they worked on their games, they shared their reasons for how they came up with that game idea. She was really happy to learn that one of her students was able to create the game they had been playing since many years. One of her most memorable moments was when they asked her to play their game with them in front of the entire class.
The entire DFS team would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Neudesic and their team members who participated in the scholarship review committee. Neudesic’s generosity and volunteer support is making a meaningful impact to advance education equity through DFS’ STEAM programs.
